i was at the JY yesterday and i was looking for parts for my truck and i saw some "powered by ford" valve covers but they were on a big block did they make these for small blocks? If so what were they on and and around what year should i look for to find them i think they would look pretty cool all cleaned up and painted.
Not sure what year they stopped putting them on the small blocks. From what I recall pretty much most 302, 351W that were non EFI had them. I think the 289's had them as well. If I had to guess I would say they stopped around 86 or 87 as with all the emissions and EFI there is just too much under the hood now to see the writing on the valve covers.
I think some places still offer them new. Performance Automotive Warehouse Use to years ago. I think summit Racing had them as well. It's been a long time since I have looked for them.
Im trying to save money and i have more time then money so id rather jus sand a pair down and paint them and do my own custom touch. All the ones i find on 80s cars are just plain black did they only come on trucks or just on mustangs or was it kinda random?
If you're looking for them cheap, your best bet is going to be the local pick and pull type junkyard. Most any early 80's backwards into the 70s model small block should have what you are looking for.
82-85 Mustang 5.0s had REALLY nice aluminum finned valve covers, that said power by Ford.......After they were hidden away under the upper intake with EFI they went away.
So did F-150s with the 5.8 HO engine from 83-87.
