windshield wiper problem
hey guys on my 1990 f250 when i turn the windshild wipers on the volt meter goes crazy. every once in awhile the will work 1 time then quit. Im going to try to fix this tommorow. I have already put a new switch in but that did not help any.

My truck's wipers are doing the same thing right now. A short circuit in the motor's windings would theoretically allow unlimited current flow, until a fuse pops, anyway. I haven't tested the motor yet to see if it is getting voltage as expected (to diagnose a bad intermittent controller or switch) but I have a strong hunch....

do you guys search? Couple dozen threads on these wipers. Of course, maybe you've already checked and bent the fingers in the park switch, and in that case, I can't help you. The park switch repair takes about 5 minutes.
unplug the plugs, pry off the round cover, clean the contacts, bend the fingers a bit, reassemble.

Actually, all my research had been toward the contingency of a failed intermittent wiper controller. I figured that if I tested the wires that plug into the motor and found power was getting to the motor and it was shorting, that the motor would be bad. I hadn't thought of looking at park switch problems. I'll look into that right now. I'll see shortly (no pun intended, really) if it results in a dead short in the motor.
