this is a desperate move! i have been trying to disengage the start sensor on my 95 250 ps clutch forever! ive been told theres wires above it, a sensor behind it, wires in the steering column, ladadada and so on. nothing like that anywhere. my wife cannot start the truck AND hold down the clutch for as long as it takes sometimes (especially if i forget to plug it in ) can you help me please......mr wilson
Well I don't know if it'll help but on an older truck I had the clutch lever itslef has a spring attached to it. When you pushed the pedal all the way down it would pull out a plunger on a "switch" that allows the truck to start.
I removed the spring and pull out the plunger permantly.
I would imagine that you must have a simliar simple set-up. The clutch pedal lever either pulls on something or pushes down a switch. Just bypass it.
Don't know how Ford did theirs, but Chevy has their switch on the clutch pedal just like a brake light switch. All you have to do is jumper the switch, it is closed when the switch is depressed.
well now this is what all my friends keep telling me. id like to think i know a little about vehicle mechanics, but this is the weirdest thing. i follow the clutch arm up and nothing is there, ive pulled back the rubber floor and nothing there. this is killing me. and of course this isnt listed in the manual, hahaha. its kind of become an obcession, lol. ive even had my buddy who is a certified diesel mechanic physically look at it and even he got this confused look on his face and said, "Hmmm, I dont know what to tell you, try looking on the net."
I have found some info.for you in the factory service manual. There are two conflicting bits of info. listed but one should be corect.
1. The clutch pedal position switch is located near the clutch pedal.
(I crawled under my dash and didn't see it)
2. A clutch pedal position switch is concentrically located on the clutch master cylinder.(This may be where it is located.I didn't have a chance to check it out.)
Wow, I have to say you were all great help. Believe it or not, IT WAS UNDER THE DASH!! The clutch arm was similar to what monsta explained and had a cylinder with a switch that it came in contact with to disengage the neutral safety switch. AND you will never believe what else?!! The cylinder was sticking, so bad in fact, that my wife could no longer push it far enough to engage the switch. So, I fixed the problem, she hoped right in and WALLA, I HAVE MY TRUCK STARTER BACK IN THE A.M. WHILE IM DRINKIN COFFEE AND PUTTIN ON THE DUDS!!! Im so happy I have to shout it to the whole world Thanks for all your help.
Have you had a chance to check out my big red baby? Only one pic in the gallery and the toy she pulls for now.
