You should see the looks on people when they see my empty 45 holster strapped to the frame of my Indian. They get this puzzled look, then it dawns on them why it isn't there.......

I went through the drive thru of the Dairy Queen in Springfield the other day, forgot I had a AK-47 in the window rack of the pickup........The girl at the window had eyes the size of saucers looking at it, I think the woman behind us was calling 911 on her cell.

Quick story.....My brother and I use to have a tow service on Cabbage Hill. One winter we went inside the bank to cash a check, (our normal one...) and they had a new young girl at the window. She asked for two pieces of ID from my brother so he handed her his DL and his CWP.

She wrote down the number of his drivers lin and asked what the other card was for......

Brother Earl flips open his winter coat and shows her his Ruger 44 mag in his shoulder rig. She comes UNGLUED!!! Punches the panic button and runs screaming to the back of the bank. The manager comes out and just sees Earl and I are the only ones in the bank and realizes what she did.......Yep, cops come screaming in the door the whole bit.......

Funny now, wasn't quite so funny with me and Earl prone on the floor........

It was surprising, because Springfield is the "right" side of I-5 and pretty conservative......I had passed at least 2 Springfield PD units, not one gave 2nd glance.

I guess 16yr old girls and soccer moms are still unnerved by firearms sightings.

Its actually gotten better, Ed..........
I try to spend my dollars in Springfield, rather than Eugene.......If at ALL possible.

In Springfield you can walk from house to vehicle with a weapon, and not have to entertain SWAT for a couple of hours.
In Eugene, this very scenario has caused SWAT teams to deploy!

Dave, the cops were probably answering the 911 calls coming from the Dairy Queen, and didn't notice your AK-47 in the back window........

That doesn't surprise me at all Dave, even back in the 90's when I lived up there you didn't dare let anyone in Eugene see your weapon.
