Should I buy it?
The deal: 1/2 acre (lot size 100'X226') 40'X60'X16' shop, 2 bedroom 1 bath with full basement. He was asking $85,000 but will take $65,000. Needs some work but not too much.
Kind of a hard deal for me. This is a Viet Nam Vet friend of mine's son's house. He committed suicide in the shop 2 months ago...... Wayne (my friend) can't stand to even go there and remove all the garbage trash etc. I told him If I take the place I'll clean it all up myself. All he'll have to do is tell me what to save. It's the least I can do..... This is the place: http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...useshop006.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...useshop007.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...useshop008.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...useshop010.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...useshop009.jpg |
Well Don that is a tough one! I would say buy it, seems to me you would be doing your friend a favor and with that big shop it will fit your needs.
|
Still haven't made any decision yet, but we are leaning that way. I can get it for a good price but we're still talking to the people that bought the place I'm in now. I just think we would spend a lot more $$$$ for this place, and I still would have to spend 15-$20,000 to build a shop.
At least I'm not in any hurry....... |
But you got more land were your at right?
And how are you going to like living in town after living so far out in the country... you might get spoiled by the conveniences ;) BTW I lit that Frank fire, should be done this weekend. |
Thanks for lighting a fire under Frank. Mike was getting a little concerned......
Yes, this place will go with 10 acres, but I don't need 10 acres.......They want $40,000 more for this place and it has no shop........The other place is on the city limits, and there is no building lots behind it. I have a lot of friends in town and I'm not getting any younger...... |
very sad circumstances but looks like a great deal......
|
My fault really Don... I been working the man almost 70 hours a week lol
Don't sound like the place your in now is worth the extra money and living in town for sure has it's up side. |
Les
Go for it Don, this is a good deal for you and the wife to get your own place with that nice shop, and to help out your friend distance himself from this tragic experience of his son's death.
|
I would say go for it.
|
You can honor your friends memory by making the place living and working again, go for it!
It might be difficult to be in the shop for a while, but maybe a picture hung in one corner of your buddy might be a nice remembrance. If you and the Mrs. can get by with 2 bdrm and 1 bath, that would be great. Might be pretty tight if you have family over. |
You haven't seen the sign on my front door.
It says: "Friends welcome anytime- Family by appointment ONLY" |
I got to get me one of them signs!
|
I can't take the credit for it. Mikey's wife had the first one posted on her door. They have 6 kids and 11 grandkids.............
I liked it so much I printed out a fancy one on my printer and laminated it. }> You should have seen the look on my daughter the first time she saw it............:-missingt |
I have a little sign on the front door, it reads "Never mind the dog, beware of owner"......My wife has a plastic statue of a Black Lab near the door, the dog is holding a sign that says "Go away".
|
I am so going to make me one at work.
I have a sign now when you start up my driveway, say's "Ignore The Dog Beware Of the Glock" |
