wiper problems
Hello all, I can't get my wipers to work with the switch. I've tried three other junkyard switches that have the same result, the motor won’t turn on, but if I remove the switch and make a jumper wire from the hot post the motor works fine. Is it the switches or could my wiper motor be grounded out and shorting out the switches? Mine has an issue with the ground tab on the motor itself it has broken or came apart at some time. I have a soda can wedged in between the motor and the firewall so it will make contact. I have a new motor but had to find time to change it out!

My understanding, correct me if I'm wrong, is that the switch has to be grounded to work..and i have tried that but didn't help. Would the motor not being grounded give me this problem? I have tried everything i can think of, maybe I'm not thinking outside the box. LOL

the switches were not intermittent, however i fixed the problem with a wiper motor off of a 77' and a intermittent switch and governor off of what i believe is a 83'. problem solved and now i have intermittent wipers, i guess the old motor was frying the switches, this old pasture rig is coming to life.
