EGR Probs.
My C.E. light came on, so I had the codes read on my 91 F-150, 300 I-6. The code that came up was something like 322, and the book said something about the EGR valve not opening (I know I'm being vague, sorry.) When I checked my manual, it gave a whole bunch of different ways of testing the valve. What I was wondering was is this code telling me I have a bad EGR valve, or are there other problems I should check first before spending the $80-$100 for a new valve?

there is a small vacuum line going to the egr valve that opens it when necessary. You can check the valve by pulling off the vacuum line and using a small piece of vacuum hose to pull vacuum on the valve. When you do this at an idle the engine should flutter some. If it doesn't then the valve is probably going bad.
