I have been looking for an idea of whats the best gearing comdination for a 4500lb 600HP mud racer. I currently run low range (1.98:1) starting in 1st (2.46:1) with a 4.88:1 axle ratio and 37" boggers. I have alot of people suggesting high range (1:1) starting in 1st (2.46:1) and a 5.38:1 axle ratio. I havent found much online and have found stuff all over the board. What is your guys thoughts? Thanks
Ideally, you'd want to be at redline in 3rd (or whatever your final gear is) at the end of the pit if you're running an auto. If you're running a manual trans a lot of guys try not to shift at all which seems kind of silly to me, but you do tend to get stuck if you lose any wheel speed, so idk....
