Ok so tomorrow I'm tackling the hutch, harpoon, fuel pump helper, and pre pump filter. So my question is where is the best place to buy the pre pump filter and the helper pump.
This is what I use for a pre-pump filter. Napa has one exactly like it but I don't have the part number right now but they can cross reference the Baldwin number.
I have no advice about a lift pump because I have never installed one. Did you Google the Carter pump. Some change store auto parts places carry Carter.

I use the same filter as Robin....They work good and you can inspect them often.
Silly question but is there any harm in installing a pre-pump filter without doing the in-tank mods? Will there be too much restriction? One of these days, I'll drop my tank and gitter done but was just wondering?

Can't really hurt since the in-tank mod just removes the mixing chamber. The only restrictions that the mixing chamber will have is on the return fuel from the filter. The screens are there to catch anything in the return fluid as it is unfiltered from the fuel bowl. The screens do collect quite a bit of debris too.
I just searched P4070 and found the pump available at Jeg's, Summit, and Napa. You should be able to call a Napa store and if they don't have it in stock, they can order it. Brice varies from $75-$85
I mounted a spin-on base under the truck and have a 10 micron filter with drain petcock on it, filter is large enough to only have to change anually. IMO, 2 micron is pretty small for winter climates!
