New Purchase Help
hey guys, I've been looking for and Expedition board for a long time. I'm glad I finially found one. I'm looking to buy a 98' EB. I've never owned an SUV or a Ford for that matter. I've got a BMW and an Acura now. I'd like to know what I need to look out for when I go look for my Expo. What is the warranty that came with them? Is it 3yrs/30K? If I purchase it from someone other than a Ford dealer could it still be under factory warranty. I've read alot of your posts and it seems like you guys are having alot of problems. Are you happy with them or are you finding that you would of passed on the purchase? Any advice that you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the long post.

It's a tapping/knocking sound during startup on cool mornings, that goes away after warm up. Can be loud or very soft. It's an engine defect, that requires engine replacement. Many F150 5.4L owners are getting new engines intalled. If you have this, go immediately to a FORD dealer and tell them you have piston slap and get a new engine installed. Good Luck and go get a new engine.

My 1998 5.4 liter Eddie Bauer suddenly slammed the accelerator to the floor when backing out of a driveway, burning rubber almost across the street and nearly giving my wife a heart attack. Anyone have a similar experience? If so, please contact me. This is dangerous.
