Never use belt dressing. that is a stop gap measure for failing belts - bad pulleys anyway.

Yes the Alt goes to max output when it finally kicks in, only for a minute or so and settles down. The noise is NOT present when this happens. only while not charging.

I had my son pickup a replacement Tensioner and I picked up a new Belt on the way home. Will replace both before having the Alt tested.

Working 12hr shifts until Wed so not much will be accomplished before Thurs.

Will post with any new info then.

Got busy with overtime and Turkey Day. Finally got it working. Went to do some testing and found the Alt plug had corrosion inside. Did a clean up and it seems to be working ok now. Still has the dreaded Squawk on start but quiets right down and charges properly.

Thanks for all the tips and advice!

Good find, fix & feedback on the alternator connector corrosion.

If the belt is noisy on start up, check the tensioners gauge markings, to make sure the belt tension is within range.
