This question may not be appropriate here, but not sure where it would. Here goes, I'm installing EFI on my '78 and now am in the process of doing the mechanical portion. My question is, what is the output pressure from the pump installed in the tank of an '89 model?
My original thought was to design a system like my '86 Ranger, lo pressure pump in the tank, fuel accumulator mounted to the frame, and a high pressure pump also mounted to the frame rail, which supplies the fuel rails, any excess fuel is routed back to the accumulator, and excess there is sent back to the tank.
Other than having multiple pumps, is there any other advantages to having the staged design?
My reason for asking is I am installing the '89 33 gallon tank in my '78 and it would be great to just use the stock pump location in the tank, of course modified with an aftermarket pump to handle my 400 HP monster.

just get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, if your motor is going to be putting out that much grunt you might think about what size injectors your gonna need. I wouldnt use anything less then 24# injectors.
