My gauges in my 54

Just thought I'd post a picture of the gauge set up I'm going with in my project. Hopefully I won't go cross eyed keeping track of all of them.

They are all Autometer Sport Comp gauges.

And no that isn't the finished paint job on the dash. Just a quicky spray bomb job to see if I'd like the blue and white together.

looks cool...I like the blue.
Couple of questions...
Is that a home made gauge panel?
What column are you using?

Still curious about the column

Yea I made the panel out of some scrap aluminum I had laying around. It's just a flat panel that I used a few hole saws on. It's not that hard to do.

The column is a "Mr. Roadster" Brand steering column I bought a while back from Speedway Motors. I went with this because my truck had an old crappy gm style steering column out of an old jeep when I bought it. The newer columns just never looked right to me in these trucks. And this one was the same diameter as the stock column tube. This one is polished stainless steel, but it's going to be painted blue to match the dash. I didn't want a polished column but it's all they offered when I bought this. They now offer a plain steel version too.

Here's a better picture of the column.

And if anyone wants to find out anymore about my unusual build it's all posted in the projects forum.

That must be one heck of an overdrive you have, to be turning only 800 rpms at 55 mph. Is it a little breezy in that cab with the flow-thru ventilation you have. ;-)

I have no idea why the tach and speedometer aren't zero'd out. But you are the second one that has mentioned it.

The firewall, floors and doors missing helps cut down the wind resistance. And with that little lawn mower engine it gets great mileage!

Just doing a little changing around of the floor and firewall due to mounting the cab on a 84 F250 4x4 chassis.

I like it, I did something very similar myself, my guages are Dolphin Oldtimer series or something like that. I have a cheap-o tach in it right now but I wanted to try that before I get the matching tach (just to be sure I didnt screw anything up) lol. I got my guages off Ebay for 250 bucks but that included the guage panel and all the goodies that come with the guages, the clock was an extra 50 bucks and the tach is 60 bucks...

I would move the clock and tach around if me. Clocks always seem to be more in the center of the dash. Maybe so passengers can see it better.

Looks good. And it sounds like you got a good deal on them too. I really like the vintage look of them.

I got a great deal on my speedometer. I bought it off of Ebay. It was brand new still factory sealed in the package for $75.00. It's right around $200 from Summit.

I did some looking for an aftermarket gauge panel. But they were either too expensive or weren't the right size for my gauges. I had the material laying around so I just made mine. It's a little more plain then most of the aftermarket ones but I think it turned out ok.

Oh yea I think it looks fine and if I had the material around I probably would have made my own to. The one I have now just has 4 little clips that bolt in and hold it in place so if you hit a bump it moves sometimes. I need to make a new clip so I can use the factory holes to hold it better...

I still need to make the brackets for the two bottom mounting screws on mine. The two upper bolts mount it pretty solid though. But I have a tendency to over build most of my stuff.

Well I got a new steering wheel. This one should look a little better then the black one. I'm going to paint the spokes and horn button white.
