ok i noticed my 02 PSD glow plug light has come on while i am driveing down the road. and this is after the motor is all warmed up. i dont think this is a good thing. and it doesnt turn off till i turn the truck off. it has done this 2 or 3 time to me know and i just woundering what everyone thinks is going on here.
I have read about this before. It has happened to me before but I have Glow Plug Relay LED and it does not light up when this happens so that means it is a fault....If you really want to know if the GPR is coming on.Hook a wire up to the positive side and a LED in the cab and you will always know when the GPR is on.
riverrat is right. It cost around $5 to do the LED mod. Its real nice to have in the winter. And it will also help diagnose a problem if their ever is one. It can tell you if your problem is relay related or somewhere in the circuit after the relay.
There was a TSB or SSM out for this a while back. Ford says the cluster needs to be reprogrammed. It really isn't doing anything, just annoying. Mine does it occasionally so I bump the key to start while driving and it turns off. Of course, the starter won't engage in drive so nothing to worry about there.
