I have a 95 power stroke turbo that has been a great truck. My problems started 3 days ago. Day1 the battery gauge barely showing anything but it moved when the truck was started and stayed on the low side, so I figured just the gauge going out. Day 2 no battery gauge working, tachometer bounces up and down sometimes stayed on zero. My turn signals coming on but the signals are slow in blinking and noticed tachometer sometimes bouncing with the turn signal blink. Now today: no tach, no battery gauge, no odometer LED coming on,no speedometer, radio is quiter and no signals at all and headlights are dim. The tranny overdrive button started blinking and off course I guess the tranny is in that mode where it barely shifts. The truck starts fine, we have had 10 degree weather too.The batteries are about 3 years old and have no way to check them. I changed the alternator about 3 years ago. Please anyone have any ideas?????
I'm not an expert on this subject, but thought I'd at least bump it up to the top of the list, so more people could see it. It definitely sounds like you've got an electrical problem in getting juice to the guages. I would suspect a discharged battery or bad connections at the battery, except the truck starts OK. Somewhere on the truck, there's probably a wiring harness that supplies juice to the guages, and there might be a connection/short problem there. I hope someone a little more knowledgeable about such things comes along and helps y'all out.
Good luck.
