The Ex is definitely bigger than the H1. It is comparable to the Suburban of the same year, but the Ex is bigger. The older Suburbans I'm not sure of. Avalanche, not even close.
the excursion is bigger then the sub in every way, taller, wider, longer. thus making it the biggest SUV offered for mass sale.
sorry, but no. The Suburbans through 1991, whether 1/2 or 3/4 ton, were quite a bit larger in interior space, to the tune of about 21 cubic feet. I still have an '88 Sub that I bought when it was a year old, it's still in very nice condition (new engine and trans a couple years back), and it has a lot more space in it than my Ex. Bonus is it's all on one level once the seat is folded flat.
If you're talking Subs from 1992 and newer, they are comparable with the Excursion in cubic feet in cargo area.
in '99 when the early '00 excursions came out. it was bigger in every way, same after the redesign in '00 was it? and from what i understand they still are bigger then the current burbs. i know for sure they are bigger on interior space as i've had to build a few fire dept subs and they are crampt!
GM's Suburban/Yukon XL stranglehold on the full-figured SUV class came to an end two years ago when Ford launched its Excursion. Dearborn's big "E" went straight to the head of the size class. It's bigger in every dimension internally and externally than the Chevy Suburban/GMC Yukon XL. And it's just the thing for affluent people who just have to have the super size of everything. The good news for 2002: Excursion is available in XLT, XLT Premium or Limited, and Limited Ultimate editions with fully 22 different trim combinations. So, you can spec your Excursion virtually exactly the way you'd like it
Excursion 146 cubic feet max
Suburbans '92-2006 132 cubic feet
Suburbans 2006 and newer 137 cubic feet
Suburbans prior to 1992 167 cubic feet
As I stated in my previous post, the old Suburbans had a LOT more room in them than the Excursion- I own both.
New Suburbans give up 9 cubic feet in the latest models, about 14 in years during the Excursions production run. Where the Excursion really shines is in sheer physical exterior size and presence; it's a truck, not a glorified station wagon. I've always felt that Suburbans gave up its true truck identity after 1991 (along with that enormous size)
and as i said i'm not comparing apples to oranges IE a 1988 truck to a 2000-2005. far as everyone has said(media, ford) the excursion is the biggest SUV to make it into production. not talking interior space here.

That video gave me an erection. I love my excursion, and with a 6.0 I have plenty of accelleration. Tons of room, my younger daughter can stand up strait in the back. I travel with the mid captains chairs down, and they sit in the 3rd row. If someone offered to trade me a maserati for it, I'd do it, sell the Maserati, and buy a freaking fleet of excursions, all diesel, 6.0's, and a garage to house them in. Then I'd drive a different one every day of the week.
Growing up my father bought an 89 suburban. It was sizable, but the floor to ceiling wasn't as high, and you had to have 1 of the 3 middle seats folded down in order to get to the 3rd row. Seating capactiy -1.
I can haul 16 sheets of plywood flat with the doors closed. I have. I could have probably put more in, but I only needed 16. Also had about 30x 2x4's on top of them. Brought home a snowblower, 36", grass seeder, book case, and other misc, inside with doors closed. I have yet to need to haul anything that I couldn't. I even fit my 2 fat sisters, and my one fat sisters 3 fat kids, as well as my mother in it. I start it up and listen to it's diesel roar in the morning. Radio not needed until I hit the highway. And then, it's dealer installed option XM Radio, going through my sound system. The 44 gallon tank may have cost me $137 to fill up the other day, however I won't be filling up again for at least 3 weeks.
Also, factory truck nutz. That's right, there's a big 'ol set hanging down right behind the trans to reduce vibration. There's just that much awesome behind this vehicle that it litterally has *****. Name one other vehicle with that.
the excursion is the biggest SUV to make it into production. not talking interior space here.
If another SUV, regardless of year of manufacture, had a larger interior, would that not make it a larger vehicle? I guess I didn't learn your new math, but then again, my Suburban and my hunting boots are older than you.

no other SUV of any year has had any larger combo of dimentions. we are taking exterior here atleast thats how it started and you brought up interior space which i could really careless, they are all decently big.
maybe you dont want to face the fact that NO OTHER factory SUV that i can find, is longer, taller, and wider all in combonation then the excrusion. THUS making it the biggest made for mass production. period.
so exactly how long, tall and wide is your old sub?
So - just to compare the old Burb to the Excursion:
1991 Suburban (from Edmonds)
Exterior
Length: 219.1 in. Width: 79.6 in.
Height: 72 in. Wheel Base: 129.5 in.
2000 Excursion (from Edmonds)
Exterior
Length: 226.7 in. Width: 80 in. (4x4)
Height: 79.7 in. Wheel Base: 137 in.
The Excursion is larger in every dimension - also comes with much better engine choices (185hp 5.7....??) and of course - is NOT made by General Motors which is the best advantage of all! So - I guess I'll ignore the additional ~20 cubic feet of interior space offered by the smaller vehicle and drive the much better Excursion. Interior cargo volume is not a measurement which can be used to describe a vehicle as being larger unless you know how to measure that heap and get 164 cubic feet out of it.
Interesting interior tidbits:
Front seat headroom / legroom:
91 Burb = 40.5" / 40.8"
Ex = 41" / 42.3"
