Broken Anchor Pin

I'm replacing the rear brakes on my 04 Ranger FX 4 with a 4.0 engine. The old brakes and drums were absolutely shot. While trying to remove the shoes and springs the anchor pin at the top broke off, flush. I was wondering if any one else has ever had this problem, if so what's the best way to get the rest of the old pin out? Does any one know the size of the pin?I know I'll have to go to a dealership to get a new anchor pin, but I don't know what all's is going to be involved in getting the old one thing out? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sorry I can't help you, but I'm curious. How many miles has it taken to wear out the rear brakes?

Not sure right off hand, but I know it's not enough to wear out the rear brakes like it did. I've only had the truck for about a year. It must of had some hard driven highway miles on it? I only drive to and from work it's about a 10 mile round trip.

Yes, the dealership said that it should thread off and the nut on the back may only be tacked on and should tap off. My problem might be that before I found that out, I drilled it out and tried to use an easy out on it. Lets hope the bolt doesn't snap off trying to unthread the thing.

you might want to pull the backing plate off and put it up on the bench where it would make it easier to get at !
