My wife has a Grand Cherokee and it does make the same noise as you describe. I always thought it was a feature to either drown out your mother-in-law or have her sucked out of the vehicle (if you can convince her not to wear her seat belt)!
Do you guy's with sunroofs get the huge helicopter noise. Around 40 mph with it open and the other windows closed?
Yes! And it's annoying. I've had a dozen other vehicles with sunroofs and this has never been an issue. We'll have to go to a sunroof deflector that sits in front of the sunroof to minimize this effect. Also, by slightly opening up my sliding rear window, I can get rid of it.
my 2007 tundra was the same way. open any one window more than a crack, but less than fully... and it would buffet like that. The new 2011 SD is the same way, although I can't say I've noticed it *that* much from just the sunroof. I think I tend to open the rear slider at the same time to get some air flowing. Must be why I haven't really noticed it. now, open a rear passenger door window and it's there, big time.
It's just the laws of aerodynamics. nothing to worry about
There's a small bar that pops up but it's not a true diffuser like what my wife's Mazda has; it pops up once the roof opens and hence, you don't have the flutter.
Ya it is funny the $15,000 cars have these deflectors and there is no noise
I also hate when there is a heavy dew or it rained and your drivers window is open, you turn a corner and all the water on the roof runs in the window all over your switches on the door and down your arm.

Not to hijack this thread, but nothing pisses me off more than this! I installed window visors to reduce this a little bit and direct the water a little further away from the switches.

It's all good. That ****'s me off as well. But in your case the rain is going to freeze soon. It never freezes here.

Hahaha.
My 95 has those drip rails above the door.
But do you know what I hate more than getting a little water on my arm/switches? The drip rails completely rotting out.
My 1995 is absolutely spotless except for rust in the drip rails. Its even rotting a bit.
