1986 460 wrecker

Hey guys. I have a 1986 wrecker with a 460 I use for the tow business. Looking to build a new engine and was wondering about some of the aftermarket head and cams. I want to get good power, truck weighs 9500lbs, but I need to have the reliablility as this engine will get lots of hours idling and running hydraulics. Any thoughts are helpful. Thanks!

would really depend on what you want out of it and what you're willing to spend.

I built one a few years ago for a friend's 86 wrecker. We used an early short block and 73 heads to get around 9.5:1 compression ratio. It had plenty of power and ran quite a while. The biggest issue we had was the 10.5" clutch couldn't handle the torque. We had to put a bigger clutch in, I think we went to a 13". We kept his stock intake etc.
