Starter Problems won't start.

Guys, I know there is an answer to my question in some forum, but I am pressed for time. My daughter's 2003 F150 won't start.......Just clicks. Now, she is telling me these things over the phone and she's twenty miles away. (i'm not in a position to give better info than that, sorry) I don't own a 2003, I have a 1985. So, to me it sounds like the solenoid. The headlights come on and they appear to be bright, again, I'm getting this from a 18 year old. Question....does a 2003 have a solenoid? If so, where will I find it? Would a relay cause the clicking? If its part of the starter, do I need to just buy the whole starter? Other info.....Her and her mother tried to jump it and it still did not start. (OMG, 2 females under the hood of a truck!)

If its the original battery,replace it,be sure the terminals are clean,and shiny..Dont know about a solenoid,but DO know their failure is rare especially in a newer vehicle/
