what all do i need to do this? im trying to find the articles that have the step by step write up but i cant find them. what all do i need? i know i need a remote start. how do i check the timing? do i need a timing light? anything else other than household tools? im making a run to harbor freight here later and was just wondering.
The coil is fine you just need a timing light , remove spout , advance timing to 12 btdc , replace the spout take it for a ride , if you hear any pinging then you went to far , 12-14 is about the norm , you just got to play with it ,,,,Lew
The stock components will handle the advanced timing if they are in good shape. Many of the caps, rotors, and wires sold by discount stores may not be as good as OEM. I would suggest spiral core wires and brand name cap and rotor with brass contacts. Increasing the plug gap can help when advancing the timing too.
