I own a 96 F150 302 5 spd. Here are the immediate plans for my truck. Rebuild my engine to around 500 hp/lbft. Six speed trans, laddersand bags for the rear, Ford 9" and fat rims.
The q's I have are;
-What are the largest tire/rim combo that will fit on a stock ride height truck. I like a little larger rears so as to give it that forward rake.
-Is there a cable shift six speed that will physically fit in to my chassis?
-Any ladder/bag combo that is prefered, or just use my best judgement?
-Will I find a 9" that has the speedo sensor already attached, and is my dash recalibratable?
Your help please. If I have the specs and ideas I can build anything to fit.
You can check www.tremectransmissions.com to see what they offer, but I'm not sure I've seen something that will handle 500ft-lbs. and the GVWR of a light truck. Or check with New Venture transmissions http://www.newventuregear.com/transmissions.html. Or ZF's website: http://www.zf-group.de/defaultz.asp?lang=1&id=98 (hopefully that one works, you might have to look around some). All these transmissions might require some creative fabrication to get them to fit since most of them aren't OEM. I haven't seen a 9 inch with the speedo/abs sensor. And with the ladder bars and bags, just look around and find a quality part. Hope this helps.
