smallblock chevy is by far the cheapest motor to build. as far as building one better, it comes down to the builder and the driver. chevy is definately the place for cheap horsepower, ford is more expensive, then mopar. if theres any dispute go look through the summit catalog.

and prozon's mom is the cheapest girl to bang, doesn't mean she's the best thing to put your ***** in. cheap is not always good, that's why china owns us because people are cheap bastids and want quality without cost, never gonna happen.

any dumb dumb can work on a 350 for pennies on the dollar, and that works for some, but is an easy lame excuse.

my dad is a biker, real one, has been since he was a teen. he's always told me something that rings true with this. you always hear guys say "well i wanted a harley, but they cost too much so i got a yamaha cruiser."

bull****, if you want something you will pay the cost to get it, otherwise you were bsing the whole time.

chevies are simple, like the people who own them

So does the machine shop charge less to do the block on a Chevy!? I don't think so. Building a small Ford is just as cheap as a small Chevy. The Ford has more potential with less parts tho. Ys that? Because they had more performance options in stock form. A 302 isn't the same 302 in every vehicle from the factory. A 350 is a 350 is a 350 tho.

just to be a dick, sbc's have a brazilion generations. yeah they almost all interchange a lot of ****, but they are still ghey. i hate simple and easy, it's true

parts are parts, it's all a myth. the only reason chevy parts are cheaper is because people are dumb and easily swayed to agree with common misconseptions. and thats why people use bbc parts in bbf engines.

Some bbc parts fit in small Ford too, main stud kits and valve springs in my 351M. But, they are aftermarket parts, multiple applications. Lol

not even close. a stock ford big block makes more hp then a hot street sbc.

I can take a 351c you take any small block chev you want and we will spend exactly the same money and the ford will walk all over that chev even if you stroke it. In fact the 351c 2v heads flow as much air stock as most AFTERMARKET SBC heads do and I got news for ya it costs as much to port chev heads as it does to port ford heads. Airflow will be the deciding factor on output and the ford heads will outflow the chev heads.

It's also a lie that small blocks are cheaper to build hp then a big block. How much is it going to cost you to make a small block chev make 600+hp? and what type of gas you going to run? you can take a crate stroker big block ford and makes over 600hp for $8000 and runs on pump gas AND it idles and pulls vacuum. Add a different cam and easily make 700+, port the heads and your over 750+. AND it will run for years on pump gas.

dollar for dollar a ford will make more hp then a chevy. The ONLY place you can say the chev is cheaper is chrome. Yes you can buy cheap chinese junk valve covers a little cheaper then a cheap ford valve cover woopee.

are some of the parts for a sbc cheaper? sure couple bucks but to get to the point that a ford is at you have to buy MORE parts. That eats up any saving you find in any single part like an intake manifold.

I just would like to add, you can also take those stock 351C heads and fit them on a 302 or 351W. More power stock parts. (Not counting the Intake you would than need)

Actually Ford did do something like that. The canted valve configuration was actually originally on a windsor block. The boss 302 was a 302 with 351c 4v heads on it from the factory.
