idle problem and tranny question

I should have posted to take out the idle mixture screws and not idle jets. They are not like the other jets in the fuel bowl. They are like an adjustable needle valve. I think you already know where they are in the front under the fuel bowl.

idle problem and tranny question

ok, i cleaned the whole carb, got all vaccum hoses plugged or hooked up ect. timing is on and it actually idles sort of ok w/o the choke now, but i still couldn't get it to run like i'd like it. the only problem is that i had to turn the two mixture screws out quite a ways to get any reaction from the engine. i'm guessing this means a rebuild, but what are the signs that a rebuild is needed? any input on good places to get rebuild kits? or are they mostly all the same?
