Is it the fuel in my area only or is this problem all over, seems every station sells low sulfur diesel to comply with new emission standards , i also have noticed that the fuel has begun a process of De- Lamination on the inside of tank fuel tank, {last fuel filter change showed small bits of silver in the filter}.as i looked into the problem on the net seems a few others have had problems related to fuel, i started using a diesel additive,to boost the sulfur and cetane rating, hopefully this helps.So can anyone please tell whats the best additive to use, and am i looking at a problem that will only get worse with time, i have a 2004 f 350 masion dump with a steel tank and what looks like a gray rust perventing sealant on it.

 

My uncle has an 04 550 mason dump also with the 6.0 and hes had 3 tanks replaced because of delamination..

 

ok the more i have looked into problems with fuel and tank the stranger this gets. found out its possible to get fungi in your fuel. this can also cause fuel filter clogging and loss of power.so it is possible i have 2 issues related to the fuel system.i am not sure that the flaking of the tank is related to a defect in the material due to the new fuel or from the manufacturer of the tank. i did buy a fuel additive from {ps diesel } the treatment should kill of any fungi in the system. very soon i think i will have to drop the tank and have it relined? i hope this works as i do not have many options with this truck.
