Heat Problems
I have a 86 f-150. The thermostat housing sprung a leak. So I changed it and put a new thermostat and a new gasket in. Now I have no heat. I had heat before. Seems like it is air locked. I've also heard of that happening. I can,t seem to get the air out. Any sugestions? I've also heard of bleeders that you put on your heater hose. If so, which hose do you splice into. Thank you

You can take one of the heater hoses off, and then fill the radiator till it comes out of the fitting on the engine. Then put it back on and continue filling. That will eliminate most, but not all the air.
Or you can run it with the radiator cap off. As it runs the radiator will start to overflow some. Then all the water in the radiator will suddenly disappear. When it disappears, that's when the thermostat has opened and burped the engine. Just keep filling the radiator after that.

Heat Problems
I put a new thermostat in my 84 f-150 302 and was told to drill a couple of 1/8 inch holes in the thermostat itself before installing it and that would let the system equalize. I did and haven't had any problems with a air pocket.

thank you all for your replies. i tried the running with the cap off. i bought a antifreeze bleeder today. has anyone ever used them before? heard of them? i didn't till a few days ago. check back with everyone later.
