Noisy '01 PSD
I need some intelligence here, so I thought I'd pick some of these "superdieselbrains" I've seen on the FTE.
My PSD has the "clatters" at approx. 1400 - 2000 RPM, especially when the temperature gets down around 20 deg. and colder. It has been in the shop for this same noisy condition, but nothing really showed up. Ford did replace the lifters on pass. side, but it really didn't help. This condition does not in any way affect the performance, but it is so loud in the cab, on start-up, that it is practically impossible to hear anyone speak. It really clatters. It is when it is demanding fuel, but quiets down quite well after speed is above 55 mph or 2000 RPM. Please offer some input. I have faith in you guys. This is my 1st diesel, and I really like it. Hope to grow old with it. Thanks in advance.
