uk truck gear trouble
Hi all, new on here and can't seem to find much info in the UK about these trucks.
I haven't bought this yet but been to look at a '95 f350 7.3 with an auto box.
He had it stood for 18 months, then took it for it's MOT (annual government road worthiness test), it drove there fine and passed the test no trouble, but on the way back it lost all drive in forward gears although the motor still rev's it doesn't drive, but in reverse its fine.
Someone has told me that because the box has been stood without turning the clutch plates in the box will have worn because of the lack of oil of them for the 18 months it was stood?
A tranny builder near me has quoted £600 to rebuild the box but it requires me to take it out because he hasn't the room.
Are they easy to remove? or would i be as well to source a manual box and throw that in? and is it an easy conversion.
Thanks from the uk, try get some pictures up when i can!
Tash.
