D66?

I am wondering how well a d66 turbo will work with rosewood stage 1's, a stock hpop and no intercooler and no tunning? Later down the road I want to go to a 17* hpop and dp tunes. Right now I am just trying to get the truck up and running and put in the parts that are harder to install when the motor is in the truck.

It will certainly be better than your stock turbo and its the only drop in option we have.

I have the D66 but with all my leaks I can't say for sure how well it will do. In another month or so I'll get the leaks plugged up and if I can find this thread I'll let you know.

you wont notice it is there but when you do get tunes and sticks you will know what you have. i had to send my chip in for some reason after i did the turbo (long after the new sticks) and the truck was basically stock. it doesnt respond any noticeably just from the D66.

Not entirely correct...

Comp Turbo makes a modified TP38 turbo that is a direct replacement on our trucks, uses the same 66mm as the D66, and costs quite a bit less. About $850. It utilizes 360* oiling which is much improved over the stock 180*(not sure on exact number) oiling. Basically just like the D66 but cheaper.

I'm planning on going with the Comp TP38 when I upgrade (if I dont' go bigger) with my Stage I's, and adding a intercooler and modded 17* HPOP.

The D66 would do great with Stage I's and no intercooler, but you won't get much more from the injectors without tuning. But when you do get tuning the extra air the D66 flows will help keep EGT's down. But again, you can get the Comp TP38 which is comparable to the D66 for much cheaper.

I actually spoke with comp turbo the other day and they said that there turbo has a stock intake wheel. So basically it is a stock tp38 turbo with a larger exducer. They told me that they had misprint in Diesel Power Mag.

Here's what they told me in an email:

Thanks for the inquire this unit comes with an upgraded comp wheel with a larger 360 degree thrust it is designed to flow more and drop EGT’s for towing.

This unit is $900 with a $150 core charge.
