Boosted launches

What is going on in the trans when were staging. Is anything slipping like 1st gear clutches or does it just get hot? Been racing alot at the local sand drags and been boosting till about 1500-1800 rpm and trying to get a feel for things.

You mean when you're standing on the brake and giving it a little throttle?

You're stalling up the torque converter and heating it up.

Not racing for time just who gets to the finish line first. I know it's heating up and there is alot of stress on the trans it's self but are the clutches melting or is it sort of like driving in first gear. Does any of these questions make sence?
