I have had nothing but problems with my truck since day one of delivery. The truck was the owner of the dealerships "demo". It had 16,000 miles on it(we went to the Expedition after our '00 EB Explorer took a roll after being tapped on the side of it's back end, resulting in a total loss). When I bought the truck, the CD player had problems. The turn signal/wiper arm had to be replaced. Along with a few other small problems. Then, at 27,000 miles, a cold engine knock, turned into a total engine replacement. After that, there were a few oil leaks here and there, and the engine ran rough. But, at 29,000 miles, the engine started to shake and the check engine light came on and stayed on. Driving the truck was just about impossible. It was towed, and they replaced the ignition coils. It seems that there was a TSB on the coils (that there had been a bad batch produced). Well, 9,000 miles later, the same thing happened. Again, it was the coil. It just so happened to be a fulke that we got yet another bad coil. They assured me that all would be fine. Now here I am at yet another 9,000 miles, and the same thing is happening again. We have an appointment to have it serviced on Tuesday, and I'm afraid that they are going to tell me that it was a different problem. When it could have actually been another coil. How do I identify these coils, and possibly mark them, so that I know if they have been changed? We have had so many problems with this truck, that I insisted that Ford give me the extended warrenty (thank goodness for that, otherwise this would be coming out of my pocket). I love my truck, but as a disabled person, the mere thought of me breaking down in the truck, with my kids in the thing, scares the hell out of me. Can anybody help, with any knowledge regarding coil problems, and finding the coils????

do you know witch coil or coils are going bad? I was told that our #4 coil was not working and that it had to be replaced, and for a mear $300. they would replace it. well being that i have more time than money I baught the $70. part and went to replace it, on closer inspection i noticed a heater hose running over #4 coil was leaking. So i tightend the hose clamp, Made a small file out of a flattend cloths hanger(shapped it to the male side of the connector) cleaned the connectors real well, decided to change the sparkplugs while i was at it(2hrs) and all was well. hope this info is helpful.
