I am in a pannic here
My hearts pounding. I need advice.
First off. I am a #$%%^&& of an old man.
I drainned 8 quarts of trans fluid.
I put 7 quarts of trans mercon sp in my engine. That's right stop laughing.
I started the truck. in total 2-3 min.
my drive in on a slop so I backed up.
would not go in drive.
It's sitting on the side of the street. what now?
I am thinking: replace the 7 quarts of trans in the transmission this time an dpull it back into the drive .
But what do I do about the trans in my crank.
will I do dammage to the engine?
Please anyone with advice.
I have a Fumoto Oil Drain Valve to drain some fluid from the engine.

Well at least put transmission fluid in the tranny.
I would drain everything out of the crank and refill with oil, start it and then drain again, maybe even a couple of times. The problem is the tranny fluid is now in your HPOP. Dont know if that is going to hurt it or not, I wouldn't think so. You only replace 15 quarts, but it holds about 18 with the HPOP oil that doesn't drain when you change the oil.
Maybe call Ford or wait for one of the Sr Ford Mech's to respond after they get off of work.

Thanks guys I feel alot better. I just replaced the trans fluid. Drained out the 8 quarts from the engine. I pulled it back to the drive and now I am drainning the engine oil. The Engine oil has only 200 miles if that Rotella 5w40.
One question though instead of putting in my rotella syc oil what other diesel motor oil could I use for a couple of fills/drain.fill/drain? I mean the syc oil is $$. But if it is better to use the sync I will.
Again thats and if you have any other suggestions please do tell.

Don't think I'd use seafoam...grab some motorcraft 15w40 dyno at Wally world or whatever is near...much cheaper by the gallon. Perform a few flush cycles, probably at 50-75 mile intervals....then hope for the best. Mercon Sp has friction modifiers so clearly not ideal for your motor....although I think the only real concern is gaskets and seals and injectors. Keep a close eye on everything. I do believe these motors can handle a great deal though...they're pretty resilient.

Since you will not be using oil for a long duration. Buy the cheapest oil you can find. Drive it 10 miles. drain, fill. drive 10 miles, drain fill.
Since it is the type of oil in your engine that is the issue, I would change the filter once and use that for all of the oil changes.
There does not seem to be anything that you will need to clean. You just need to decrease the concentration of the trans oil in the engine.

I don't think you really made that big of a mess of things. Sure I wouldn't run my truck for 5000 miles with ATF in it, but a couple of minutes didn't hurt anything.
I would do what most people suggested, but maybe not as radical. By one oil change worth of the cheapest 15W40 you can get, dump your oil and put it in. Run it for a few minutes, drain it and replace it with whatever you regularly use.
You will have eliminated enough of the ATF where I don't think you'll have a problem.

I might open the filter and let it drain, but I don't think I'd change it again. It's not like it's plugged with soot and trash from 5K miles of hard work. The trans fluid won't kill anything for no longer than you ran it. You might have cleaned it out a little bit. Heck, it might even run better with all the extra cleaning it got.
