Poor cold running
Sometimes very hard starting cold. I have to put my foot to the floor. Then it will stall at a stop or just quit when idling. Once it warms right up it seems to go fine. Its a 1990, 3l. automatic Aerostar. Any suggestions?

You might want to check the engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT). If it's telling the computer that the engine is warm when it's not warm, then the engine won't run slightly richer when cold (which helps the engine run better while cold). Another thing worth checking (if the temp sensor is OK) is the idle air control (IAC) valve. It bumps up the idle when cold which helps drivability.
