does the light switch have a notorius habit of going bad?
seems like when you turn the rod for dimming or brighter it is sloppy.

some good looking gauge mods ,i might get after mine later.
been busy building a bed and fixing other issues.

mine has a like new bench seat.
but i am thinking about putting in a set of dodge van buckets.
for my body size they are the most comfortable seats.
Yep switches from these and especially the Dodge rams are bad. Mine switch in my Ram went out, my uncles went out twice, and they have a recall for those. Except they only cover 3500's, fwiw mine is a 1500 and my uncles is a 2500.

Also, go with Ford seats they are closer to what you have. It will likely be a lot of modding and custom fabing to get them lined up.

Headlight switches are known to go bad. Also, there is a seperate fuse for the dash lights. It tends to blow the fuse due to someone improperly wiring up a radio. The factory radio uses a blue/red (or is red/blue?) wire for the radio light, and many folks think it's a ground wire......

thanks for the info.
i will pull the switch out and try a new one.
i went through all the fuses and there were 3 mini fuses out.
the switch turns for a reastat to dim and bright the dash lights.
i think it should stop at one end and have a hard spot to turn on the dome.
on mine it just keeps turning.
seats arent hard to fab upa bracket for.
in my 79 f-250 i had a set of dodge buckets from a saturn i think it was.
cloth and electric rais and lower.
i just sold my 88 ramcharger and i miss the seats the van /ramcharger seats were comfortable.

i drive a 2008 mack granite quad axle dump and the seats look comfortable, but the tear my back up.
the dodge seats fit me great, sometimes i would sit in the ramcharger to listen to the radio after work cause it helped straighten my back up.

Just thought I would put my truck in on what I have done. I have an 82 f-150 that I have been tinkering with for about three years. I have got tons of help from you guys on here so I just wanted to share a photo with you.

This is the six inch suspension lift I just installed this weekend. The other mods the truck has are as followed. Holley 600 cfm car, dual plane intake, flowtech headers, 3" body lift, rebuilt 9" rear, totally repainted frame, and a set of 40" gumbo mudders for when I find wheels. Thanks all for the help I could not have got to this point with out it.

looks good.
is that base coat waiting for clearcoat , or just a flat color?

wish mine was that good. not much rust but a bent front bumper and fender. 86 f-350 drw 2wd 351w at
i almost have the flatbed ready.
and have got most of the little things done.
front brakes and calipers ,rear pads, new alt, and power steering pump.
belts hoses , thermostat. ect.
she had rotted wires and connector plugs to the ignition box, coil and dist.
i eliminated the plug connectors and soldered in new wires.

new plugs and wires and cleaned the 1405 edlebrock.
it was running rich so i dropped a metering rod size friday.
put in one new plug to get a reading, and it seems better.

little more time and i am going to try to put her to work to pickup a little side money

That is an epoxy primer/sealer, that is "long awaiting" paint. Wasn't sure when I would be able to get it painted, so went for a little "heavier" stuff. The frame is por-15. The front third of the frame will be done when we pull the engine for all the fun stuff we have planned up there in the next month or so!

Holy diff Batman!

Yep, that's the only thing I did to my truck this weekend. I spent the rest of it repairing the 4wd in my Jeep and replacing the p/s pump.

Those solenoids go bad "fairly" often, and you never really know when it might happen. One time you get some hesitation, then...nothing. I usually have an extra solenoid, and an extra ignition module with me all the time.

Tell me about it. We've had alot of Fords in our family over the years and each one of them got a new solenoid at least twice. I was hoping to atleast get more than 6 months out of the new one.

Pulled off the wiper motor and disassembled it. As I was putting it back together I noticed it seems like the gears in the transmission portion may be bad. Crap, looks like I'll need to find another wiper motor......
I'll put it back together and hook it up to double check, but it don't look good.

Well I went ahead and painted over my white gauges. I hit them with white epoxy yesterday and it just wasn't doing it for me. I messed up on one and tried to paint it within an hour of painting and it smudged and wasn't going to dry. So I washed it all off with water and then alcohol and hit it with white again. I hit that one today with silver and its ok now.

I bought chrome metallic and silver paint, the funny thing is the silver isn't supposed to be chrome looking but it is. So it looks like I could have bought the cheaper can for my case and been good.

I also paint two red sharpie paint pens and will give that a shot in the AM.

I was hoping to get a look at some stock gauges because having a red needle, red numbers, letters etc. will get a bit boring.

The plan thus far is to use the sharpie and see how that works. If I don't like it I am using glow in the dark flourescent orange paint!
