There's a thread on here somewhere, where a guy figured out a set of motor mounts and stuff that make them fit, but it doesn't sound all too hard. Just like any engine swap, a bit of work would be required.

Considering that there are even kits to put the 6BT in a Ford and keep the E4OD behind it or leave a C6 there it would lead you to believe there's a market for it.

I'm about to head outside and get the new TC seated, but I need some help with the flexplate....how do I know I'm putting it on the right way? I know that it's balanced with a weight in one corner and that it works with the harmonic balancer to balance the engine, but how do I tell it's on right? It doesn't appear that the bolts have any special pattern to them and there's no indentation, slot, etc. to make sure it goes on the right way. I've got a 302 with a C6.

The bolt pattern on a Lima is not symmetrical.
Not sure about your Windsor, but mine can only go on in one position.

He may not respond too soon. I told him the same thing via PM awa the torque values. Didn't realize he'd posted here as well. Anyway, he said he has just a bit of daylight and is going to see how far he can get.

I was asking Matt a question, I'm going outside now, lol.

And Gary, I sent you the PM first then asked here - not out of disregard for your response, but because I was trying to figure something out quick. You replied right after I posted here. lol

I'll let ya'll know what I can get done. I'm off! lol

I didn't even THINK you disregarded me. I just thought you were smart not to put all of your eggs in a basket that is frequently dropped. Good luck!

lol. As you've probably figured out, I highly value your knowledge, Gary. And the fact that you've helped me to get a very nice part that I otherwise couldn't have afforded - that means a lot to me. Thank you.

As far as the truck, I got the TC seated after squeezing my wide self almost completely under the truck...I'm friends with Matt on facebook and I told him about it and he acted like I needed to put 3qt of fluid in before I put it on....needless to say, I was glad when he said he was kidding. LOL it was heavy enough with like 1/8 qt in it, I can only imagine having it full and trying to manhandle it into place whilst laying on my side. Only reason I even put fluid in it was because I had watched a youtube video where a guy said he had put ATF on the shaft of the TC so it wouldn't go into the seal dry, so I dumped a little in the TC since I had the bottle in my hand anyway.

I also got the flexplate bolted in, but not torqued yet since I ran out of light. It is as you said, Gary, it only lines up one way. The bolt holes are spaced in such a way that there's only one way it can line up. After several tries and having to put the access plate back on several times after it fell off as I played with the flexplate....it's bolted in.

Tomorrow I torque it all down and get the trans bolted back up to the block, and then get the cooler lines, shifter linkage and speedo cable back in place. Hopefully I can get the dipstick tube back on and get it filled back up too.

I do have a question though - do I need to use threadlocker on the TC bolts?

The box weighed 34.9 lbs, so the torque converter weighs about 32 lbs. That's a bunch to put up over your head and line up. Been there, done that, but don't see the need to add another several lbs in, especially when it would slosh around.

Good luck and let us know.

You're telling me. I was sweating bullets just lifting that thing into place. But it seated nice and easy with resounding clunks, so I'm happy.

Just curious, but how do I go about reinstalling the dipstick tube?

Page 666....oh my. All I did was look at bracing the bed sides on my truck, so they won't shake going down the road, and smacked the RH caliper so it would free up

It should have an o-ring on it. Make sure you lube the o-ring, clean the tranny, and slide it in. And the ear on top goes under the top bolt on the passenger's side.
