What have you done to your truck today?

I did some awhile back, the hill was icy, and the back end would break loose If I gave it too much gas. Started to think I wasn't going to make it, I was doing 20 by the time I got to the top.
Today I spotted a truck in the jy with the Explorer bedside emblems I need, guy wouldn't let me get them myself, he said it would be a couple days before he could get them. $20 for both.

Not "to" but "with": I drove mine 630 miles today to cap a trip of 2,901.7 miles in two weeks. It was "with" because I didn't have to do anything "to" it other than feed it a total of 212.6 gallons of gas and two quarts of oil. And, I put 18.79 gallons in the 19 gallon tank one time, 18.76 another, and 17+ gallons in it several times. I'm thinking the tank may be fairly clean by now?

Nothing like a good flush to make BAD things go away.
Good numbers on the fuel mileage...Oil consumption is what I would consider normal...I would not be concerned at all about dependability..
I know the GOOD feeling of getting back home after a trip and can relate very well to it....
Glad you had a Wonderful time with the family and a safe trip...Trav..

I will admit there was more than one prayer. Actually, many thereof. But, I fill the tank up into the neck so it finally stops with gas visible. That takes several squirts and takes time, but I suspect the total available capacity is closer to 20 gallons. In any event, the needle hadn't gotten to the line on the Empty end in any of the cases.

Nothing like a long trip to get that trust in a vehicle. My old 351 powered 80 Bronco got me through alot, but I didn't trust it until one day I sorta got stuck in the mud. 30 minutes later I had run the snot out of it to get unstuck, drove it home with the A/C on. Afterwards wasn't afraid to go anywhere with it.

I changed the shift cable on my '92 today. Finally got rid of the stiff, mushy feel of my shift lever. Shifts like a new truck now.
The MLPS is also on it's way out, but I'm not gonna replace that until I have a full day to devote to it. I'll have to roll back the carpet, and remove the transmission access cover in order to replace it as the connector needs to be re-pinned to a new plug style.
Ford updated the connector due to water and crud being able to get in the old plug, and it's near impossible to get to the connector to re-pin it lying on your back under the truck.
One project done, so many more to do....

Wrapped both of my shifter levers with paracord today. Kind of gives it a unique look. I don't know anyone that has wrapped their shifters before, and I haven't seen it anywhere. A unique touch for my personal belongings.
Polished the chrome shift **** on the transmission lever, polished the turn signal lever, polished my rusty rims in true redneck fashion, cleaned the truck a bit, organized the tool box, re-wrapped some wiring, and that's pretty much it.
I retarded the timing a hair more two days ago. Fires up nice, and the bucking feeling it had right around 1000-1200 RPM disappeared. Timing is now perfect.
