Worked on the Truck again today. Got the Rad Rapaird due to the Fan hitting it and digging in it. Refilled it and bled out the air bubbles. With the New Fan Spacer it sitts back a good 1 1.5 inchs now. Took it for about a 35 Mile drive to see how it would do and every thing worked good. No steaming any where to fan blade sounds no wires burning it Ran Really good and was happy thing its ready for the Road again! YAY What a night mare it has been

I wasn't old enough to be uproaring, wasn't this in the Jimmy Carter era? I was just becoming a teenager and I remember not wanting to change, also remember lots of people being upset.
The metric system *does* make LOTS more sense, though. and moving to it is probably the right thing to do.
As for the AC compressor, I'm guessing surrounding/attaching parts on certain vehicles were redesigned, or new vehicles were designed, and they went with metric as they were transitioning to that.
Making changes to mass production I'm sure requires a lot of coordination, and baby steps are sometimes easier & cheaper to take.
Those compressors were used on all vehicles, the mounting brackets are different.

Ahhh! Now I understand. When you said earlier that you were using .22 steel I thought that was kinda thick and didn't realize that Lowes carries it. Actually, I think you have "22 gauge" not ".22 gauge". 22 gauge steel is .030" thick and would be very difficult to form w/o bending. That's why I'm thinking about .125" steel. It is overkill but what isn't on these pickups?
A few days ago a friend on facebook asked me how old I was gonna be, and I told her .20.
I'll tell you what wasn't overkill.
Rust prevention measures.

LOL. Yes, you are confused. Young, but not that young. However, you are right about the lack of rustproofing on these trucks. Lots of tin and very susceptible to the tin worm.

The bolts go into the compressor. Metric and SAE
When I took mine off ,I put the bolts back into the old compresor so I wouldn't try to misplace them.
I finally got the condenser on, and have the new compressor, dryer, orfice, etc. to put on.
Been too hot and busy with other things. Maybe a day or two.
Got new camera, didn't work, took back and exchanged, still no go.
Took it back today and got money back, Went to Best Buy and got one.
Trying to get it lined up. I'll be glad to get some pics. Later Trav.
