What have you done to your truck today?
I did 2 motor swaps on that thing. It had a motor fire, not bad. We had all the parts but we never put the truck back together again.

Lay underneath my truck along a busy highway, swapping fuel lines going into the tank selector valve. Either the valve failed or it lost power, so the pump was trying to pull gas from my no longer existing rear tank. I'll do more trouble shooting later. Might even get a new rear tank, just in case

If you only have a front tank now, why not just bypass the selector valve completely with a length of hose?
If you plan to keep the existing selector valve, check the fuse panel. On my '84 351W, the valve is spring loaded to feed from the rear tank. With power applied, the selector valve feeds from the front. Remove power and the valve defaults to the rear tank.
On my truck, the fuse worked loose, caused by the parking brake slamming against the adjacent stop when released. After nearly getting stranded, I'm now careful to keep my foot on the parking brake when releasing it.
I think the 460 trucks are different, with a motorized valve that stays at its last commanded position. But if your truck has a spring-loaded valve like mine, a loose fuse could be the culprit.
I did check the fuse and it looked ok and was seated in place. I'll crawl under there again in a few days and check for voltage at the connector.
I'm leaning towards putting a new tank on in the rear, now that it's past the smog *****. The front tank sender has gone from intermittently working to the gauge showing empty all the time. I think the float is stuck or sunk. That tank and sender should probably all be replaced too, eventually.

I put in a new offenhauser dp intake and eldelbrock 4 barrel carb on a 300 inline 6 along with new headers. Gonna start creating a throttle bracket and hooking up the vacuum hoses tomorrow and give her a test start and begin the tuning process. As soon as I get a gasket for the valve cover I'm gonna take it off sand it down and paint it Ford blue!
