Ford 302 Engine Block date??
It's currently got the heads and intake off, and I'm trying to get the skinny on engine date codes...
Intake is 73, N.D got me that one...Thanks.
Bottom of stock heads says D20E
The Ex. Manifold D1AE-9431-BB
As far as the block ID goes, I was told that the stamped area in front of
#5 Cylinder was the date code...?
Mine says 3B20F
I'll be darned if I can find any info via searches.
I couldn't find anything else below the intake on the block or anything
other than the #10

Locate the casting numbers on your engine block by checking above the starter on the right hand side of the block. Use a spray degreaser and a rag to clean the area if it is covered with dirt and grease.
Be aware that the casting number is a four digit alphanumeric code, followed by a dash and another four-digit number. When determining the year of your 302 cubic inch engine, only the first two characters of the first four-digit alphanumeric code are needed.
Look at the first letter in the alphanumeric code, which indicates the decade of manufacture. A "C" indicates the 1960s, "D" the 1970s, "E" the 1980s and "F" the 1990s.
Observe the second number in the four-digit alpha-numeric code. This number indicates the year of the designated decade of manufacture. For example: if your code starts with D4, your 302 engine was manufactured in 1974.

6LT6W best i can tell (on my 302 in my 66 falcon but obviously non original)
this is behind the ignition switch on the block.
So i think maybe 6 means the year?
so 66 76 86 etc??
Then L means November?
Then T is an assembly plant somewhere or no it is the W which means assembly plant right? Is there a listing of these?
the second six is the day of the month?
can anyone provide help?
Thanks Peter
