I have a 71 ford f-100 sport custom that when i rev it up fast enough it makes a ticking sound and it dies. im 15 and im just learning about engines. any help would be wonderful.

 

tell us a little more about your problem. what is happening when you step on the gas?

 

well its hard to explain. if you step on the gas to fast it will make some clicking, ticking sounds from the engine and then die, its pretty loud. and when i try to start it some times it will do it to. idk how to explain the sound correctly. ive herd from some people that it could be that the lifters are going out, or the rocker arms are loose. i wanna narrow it down as much as possible befor i do any thing major.
