So let me start by saying it's a 5.8L 351w Offenhauser engine. I'm driving, turning from one street to another and it stalls on me. Now this is weird as this hasn't happened to me in the 6 months I've owned the truck. I had been driving roughly 10 minutes till this happened. I go to restart the truck, it turns but doesn't catch. Which says to me is a bad or going bad alternator. Ok, long story short I have the truck towed home. This morning I goto check the fuses, the belts to make sure they are all still on, everything looks fine. I goto start the truck up, and it starts. Runs a little ragged, but starts.
So, in all of your expert opinions, is this a battery problem, an alternator, or some other assorted problem?
Ok, so I pulled the alternator and took it to autozone. Alternator is fine. I'm thinking this issue is now somewhere in the secondary ignition system. I have an MSD ignition. Truck starts up fine, but now runs a little ragged.
I took off the MSD cap and sanded the funk of the contacts inside the cap.
