So i got my 2010. It is xl bench seat manual trans, manual 4x4 shifter, And uplifter switches AND... No cup holders???
any ideas it has two "blank" panels (i guess for options i dont got) on driver/passenger side. Black and they look like they can pop off. Is there a cupholder that fits that spot, or should i install generic ones, or other options? I dont want one on the hump because i do carry a third passenger occasionaly.
The only other things i am changing is i have plain rear glass no slider and that big chunk of clear glass looks dumb. Also going to put something in rear end some kind of posi havent researched it much yet
are there not any cup holders on the integrated arm rest?
Those blank plates you're looking at, the driver side is for the ESOF 4x4 switch, and the passenger side is for the airbag "off" switch & 12v power point.
The good thing about not having a sliding rear window is that you are missing a weak spot that thieves like to use to break into your truck. That solid piece of glass isn't so bad.
Can I talk you into posting a picture of your shifter setup?
If so, those plates replace the cigar lighter (driver side) and Aux Audio In (Passenger side)
In 2008, the most basic seat you could get was a bench seat with an integrated arm rest that folds down out of the middle. I guess they did away with the armrest by 2010.
The parking lights stay on for a few minutes after locking/shuttin driver door. When i turn lights off i want them to turn off!
Another problem is with snowplow pkg the front sits about 1" higher than rear when empty. Im just picky overall im very happy with truck and like the zf6 allot butter smoth!
With the manual you dont have the dash cupholders, which leaves armrest/center console wich you dont have either. I opted for the buckets on my XL which I thought came with SOMETHING to put your arm on (armrest or center console) and it came with neither, but it did come with a plastic tray on the floor with 2 cupholders, so atleast I got 2 for a 5 pass vehicle! I've been trying to figure out how to rig up more becuase I use 2 just myself (coffee cup & cold drink usually). For now I use my wide based commuter mug on the dash to free up 1 of the cupholders.
IMO Ford really dropped the ball on the XL trucks. They must figure any more you apparently dont care about normal things like armrests, cupholder, and door pockets if your getting a lowly XL. I mean my truck stickered over $30K... apparently you got to spend over $40,000 to get these basic ameneties.
What gets me is it dont cost that much for these items. And they had em before. My older F150 XL had door pockets, more cupholders (and its only a 3 passanger vehicle), and armrest. It was so nice that ford stopped caring about there base models. These are minor complaints... but still were talking about over $30k vehicle here. Thats one problem with ordering a truck - since they didnt have any XLs on lot I had no idea these basic things were missing...
I'm still debating on adding a center console (offset for use with the manual), as well as cut out a set of door pockets from a door panel with em and attach em. Thinking about upgrading the seats too and thats probably your best bet for getting cupholders.
The auto parking lights I'm not sure on. Doesnt matter to me, but I know there was a game warden type person on here before asking about it, saying it kind of blows his cover when trying to go after poachers in the dark... as soon as you pull the key out all the lights come on...
Thats why im worried about the lights there are times you want the parking lights on--turn the switch, but sometimes you dont. Found the "fold down armrest" but those holders are useless. I have plenty of room on dash but driver side would mount so cup is in front of air vent. Going to find some holders and do some measuring tommorrow will post up picks when i do.
With snow plow pkg and 5.4/reg cab i am 1" higher in front than rear. Would like to be even or q bit higher in rear... Any cheap options that wont hurt ride quality or capacity. Some 350 blocks?
Do you mean it doesnt have door pockets? Because if it did I'd like to know how (or maybe you have modded it like I plan on)...
I dont have any answers about the auto parking lights since it doesnt affect me, they are only on a for a short time, not like my wifes car where the headlights stay on for like 5 minutes or more. But it would be nice if that was a programable feature.

Hey Tex, my 08 had (note the past tense) about an acre of cheap gray vinyl wrapped around some metal and padding....no armrest, the middle was just more vinyl. Spirited cornering would put the driver pretty squarely in the middle of the seat. The hose down bench was soon replaced with a pair of Corbeau LG1s and a take off factory console from ebay. Night and day difference.
It came from the factory with the door pockets. I keep two 7->6 trailer adapters there. Other than that they accumulate straw wrappers and loose .22 LR rounds. Maybe the door pockets are part of the power equipment group?
The vinyl is already cracked on the armrest where my elbow rests while I'm not shifting. It folds up and tucks neatly into the seat so a second passenger can have a seat straddling the shifter.
Maybe the door pockets are part of the power equipment group?
Yes, the door pockets are for doors without the manual window crank (i.e. power eq group). They designed the door pockets so huge that they wont clear the crank. They even decided to stuff 2 pockets in there. They could very easily made the door pockets slightly different to fit the same style pockets on both door panels and or just left one off on the manual crank ones. It probably took as much effort to make a blank one in addition to just design one that would fit both in the first place.
I admit I like the clean look and the fact it wont accumulate junk but I have absolutely no where to put a map book or anything near the length of a sheet of paper...
Is this cargo-bay sized door too small to fit a pocket on? Must be that huge 3 foot door crank they just couldnt work around...
I dont mean to sound too harsh I love this truck! Minor complaint but its all good
Asked and answered, you guys are good. I agree the engineers could have designed a pocket that doesnt need to hold a weeks worth of groceries. My guess is that so few people get baseline trucks that it wouldn't be feasible. I, on the other hand, look forward to another winter being able to roll down my own windows without 12 volts of assistance.
