I was away for about 10 days, came back and now have water sloshing around in the roof of my 2004 F150. It has a sunroof which I am pretty sure was closed tight. I now have lots of condensation on the inside windsheild and rear light above back window.
Is there a way to get the water out and what caused it in the first place?
It's likely the third brake light assembly. I'm clueless as to how to dry it out other than removing the light assembly and attempt to soak up as much as possible and let it air dry.
Yeah the 04-06's have had a lot of issues with the gasket around the third light leaking. Some people have just pulled it apart and caulked it to get a good seal again and some have gone ahead and put in a led light there to fix the issue.
As far as getting the water out pull apart the third light and the light in the room of the truck and soak it up and repeat that over a few days. The other way is to pull the entire ceiling down on the inside of the truck and cleaning it out that way but that might prove to be more of a hassle then its worth.
As suggested....it is most likely the third brake light assy. You should remove it and seal it up.
In order to dry the roof up, you might remove the headliner and let it air dry, or you could get a dehumidifier and place it in the truck and hope that it will dry it up. Another option is to remove as much water as you can without removing the headliner and put a fan in the the truck to help dry it out.
drop the headliner to dry it out. the third brake light is the culprit but you want to get that water out before it stinks up your truck for life. the whole back/top of the headliner is plastic so cleanup will be easy. dropping it is the time consuming part. you need to remove the visors, a & b pillar trim, seatbelts, center console ( just pull straight down), and rear light. none of it is hard, just a bit of time. then once you remove that, you can lower the liner and wipe down the liner. you probobly wont even needto remove it from the truck, just rest it on the headrests. but i do recomend doing it so the truck doesnt smell moldy/musty like a basement.
