I have a head I pulled from an 81 F250. It has ridges that you can see below, around the bottom half of the valves.
Can anyone identify it? Of course I will run the numbers, but thought someone might be able to identify from sight. I haven't seen anyone else with chambers like this. Doesn't the EFI head have these ridges?

Can someone tell me where the factory #s are located?
If I remember correctly, the Ford stamp is behind the thermo. housing, inside the v. cover. Is that right?
Flip--I thought the 240 chambers were peanut shaped.
I had to check my own files, and found this: : 240 head id
Under the stat outlet - the third letter should be an "A" - such as C5AE. Also, the chamber had a distinct kidney bean shape.
Once my back gets better I'll pull the v.cover and post the #s I find. I should have run them when I pulled it, but due to lack of experience, I just assumed that a head on a 81 must be an 81. Boy was I wrong.
I have searched all around the outside, and can't find any #s.
the number is on the right, under the thermostat housing. the head kinda goes back there before it hits the block, and you may need a mirror to see it if it is still on the block. that is not an efi head. if you need pics, let me know, I have a couple of heads here.
