Well I took off a door panel yesterday and cleaned it up real good and shot some paint to it.
I had some Dupli color Saddle Tan but only had one can from an old project. That stuff sprays out good. I couldn't find any at the Auto zone, only went there to use the $20 Rewards I had but they only had Rustolium, I took my chances and bought the rustolium brand vinyl and trim paint. Got home thinking man this is not going to match the other tan at all. I do have to say I was wrong, I really couldn't visually see a difference between the two different brands color wise. I really didn't care how the rustolium came out because it seemed a little thin to me and didn't seem to apply real well to the panel.
After it dried I shot on some clear coat just to see what it would look like. I'm still unsure if I should keep it clear coated or not.
That looks good, but pretty much anything will look good in a low-res pic so it's hard to say. I generally prefer a matte finish to a shiny one, if that helps any.
Why the color change? Isn't it going to be a PITA to do the dash?
I am sorry but I think it looks like crap. but then again I am not a tan fan.. Also door panels are the wort think you can paint. it just wears off. I have a full tan XL interior if you are interested
yea....i was gonna ask how long does it hold up ??....
i dont think i would do this unless its right before i sold the truck i did it to....for the "curb appeal"
not to hi-jack, but does anyone know where i can find some dark grey parts for a 93 ??
edit: i think a matte, or satin clear would go best, i wouldnt use the shiny stuff, then its going to look like someone painted it....
i think it looks great. have been using this stuff for a few years with great success. never had any problems with it pealing off if you do the proper prep work.
