Hi, first time asking a question. I just got done restoring a 79 F-150 XLT 4x4. It has the racing style chrome with a two tone jade/mint green color. I have a custom ford seat done in green with ford written down the center. I put the Factory A/C, crise control, tilt steering, and added the power lock and window. After about five years later, it still not done.
The one thing the truck has been missing is that it is not a crew cab or a supercab. That is all going to change, because I found a 78-79 F-150 Supercab 4x4. They only want $150.00 for the frame and the cab. The frame is in great shape and the cab only need the lower rear cab coner. I now that I can take every thing off my truck and put on the spercab. The only thing that is the probem is that I need to now how to change my front axle to a leaf spring sup. I was wondering how hard is it to refit my axle to leaf or should I look for a nother axle? The ather question is how new of a truck can I get the rear driveshaft out of? One more question is. Can I take the leaf springs out of a 2wd F-250 for the front and have no problem?

Look for a late 70's D44 from a 3/4 ton truck. Get the front springs too. It's basically the same axle with different hubs and spring types. It should bolt up and just change your outer wheel hubs with the ones from you F-150 so your wheels will fit Changing the axle you have now to leaves will require cutting and welding on the tube.
Thank You for the help. I been look around my area for a dana44, but most places don't have it. One place acted like I didn't now what I was talking about. One place wanted $250.00 for the hole front axle. Are they Asking to much for it? Do any one now of a good juck yard in PA that may have a dana44 for a F-250? Thank For linstning.

I am in the process of doing something similar with my pickup, thanks to the guys at FTE I realized how much work it was going to be to swap to a leaf sprung front end on my F-100, and decided against it. The frame of a 3/4 ton and a 1/2 ton are completely different up front, I may be wrong but it would take some pretty serious beefing up to make your front spring hangers work. You also aught to pick up the 250 dollar axle its a steal.
