thanks. it looked horrible when i first got it, rusted bumpers, had little tires on it like 225/75 i think. had the 33's on those rims, cleaned them up and threw them on the truck with some bed liner on the bumpers and it changed the entire truck. the inside was gross it stunk rotted floor mat, just plain nasty. almost done with the inside tho
i aint worried about the trans i just need a bellhouse. if it was my every day driver i would fix the 6 but i just aint a big fan of them. gotta have my v8 roar if its gonna be fixed. im not knocking 300s they are good 3rd one ive had. just not my preffered motor
If you are going to swap engines, swap in a 351w rather than the 400. Better aftermarket and fairly inexpensive, plus you won't need a new bellhousing either.
It never ceases to amaze me the differences in how these trucks rust... that one looks like it has none or very little where mine is rusted out, but mine is great in the places you have rot... like my wheel arches are imaculate... and we both have to scrap the bed... Lol.
I guess if your engine is shot, then get whatever you want. I like the 300s, but I wouldn't suggest them if you want a V8. It's your truck, build it the way you want.
Oh, post up some more pics of your progress. Lets see the interior!
Looks like a pretty decent truck my buddy had a truck that same color ill have to see if I can find a pic and post it for ya it was lifted and ridin on 35s I believe it looked nice.
The 400 in my 79 F150 bangs around pretty good even with 35x15x15s. When you go to power steering get a saginaw pump from a 80's van. I found one at pick'n pull with the right bracket and pressure line. Had to fab a brace but the whole thing took a day including the trip to the yard and cost less than $100. Nice truck by the way!
I got a 351m on a stand in my buddies garage. Came as a spare with my truck. Missin the carb, but if you feel like a road trip to michigan, you can have it. I am just gonna scrap it next spring anyways.
my computers been broke. anything wrong with that motor?? i might take you up on that if you still have it.
i put new heater motor and heater core in it about 2 weeks ago. changed the oil in it, boout to do u joints. then that will probably be it till it warms back up. bed might come off this weekend idk yet on that tho. will post pics later when i have more time
