???????

i have a 99'F-350 sd. and ive been tryin 2 figure out what rear-end i have all day. I have to change the pinion seal in it because of seapage and the bolts that hold the driveshaft to the crossjoint are very small.5/16 or 8mm????? but both of them seem a little to big and im afraid of stripping the head on them. can anyone tell me what i should do.please help.

On a '99 if you have a SRW then you have a Dana 50, if you have a DRW then I believe you have a Dana 80, but I'm not positive. There is probably more information then you need in the Super Duty Tech Folder. I'm sorry I can't help with the bolt sizes, but hopefully knowing which rear-end will help you out.

I just went out and checked my truck in the parking lot at work and it seems that the 5/16" is the best fit, it has a tiny bit of play but not as much as the 8mm. They sure are tiny considering how important they are.

You have to use a 12 pt socket. I'm not sure which size it is, but it's probably metric and a 12 pt should fit on it snugly.

If its a dually its a Dana 80, if its single rear wheel its a Visteon 10.50.

In '99 the front axle was a Dana 50 which is a Dana 44 center section with Dana 60 axle tubes.
