brake line help
Hello everyone. My wife was driving the other day and the tie rod came off the front driver side. It flipped around and slammed at the inside of the wheel rim. I had the drag link and tie rod replaced..truck needed to be towed. After picking it up at the mechanic's I noticed the ABS light was on. It also continues to make a slight noise when the wheel is rotating. I just put new Hawk high performance brakes on it 2 months ago. The shop was closing in 5 min, so I couldn't get it back in the garage, however the mechanic said just disconnect the battery for 15 min and the computer should reset itself. I tried it..still getting the light.
Today I jacked up the truck and took the front wheel off. When I spin the wheel, it rubs the rotor on one side as it goes around. Should I get the rotors cut? The culprit though onthe abs light..I think I found. I followed the brake line (inside a plastic sleeve until the very end of the connection to the wheel). At the near end where it comes out of the plastic sleeve/shroud I found a slice through the line. I opened it up a bit and sure enough there is a white and black wire inside a larger black wire. They are sliced through. It must have happened when the tie rod came off. Where would I find the brake line replacement and has anyone done it? It disappears back up behind the wheel well and I guess it must connect to a controller on the engine or something. Has anyone done this or experienced replacing these? Thanks for any help you can give.
