Be patient, listen to the advice of others, ask for help BEFORE you really need it and you are in a tough spot...

Umm, can't think of anything else right now.

Oh, the right tool makes the job a lot easier, and Ford is #1!

Grand Welcome

Wow, thanks for all the welcomings. I have been a ford guy for most my life and usually knew (or know) just enough to get me in trouble. I have a 2000 Excursion with a V10 (wife's car)and my new addition is a 79 F250 Ranger Lariat 2wd 460 C6. got it from my real estate agent for free but i had to tow it from her pasture over to my house. I now have it running pretty decent and am not scared that its going to leave me stranded somewhere. I decided to join the website because of all the helpfull info i found trying to get my ford running.

trying to ID my engine

Well I have started the process to ID what engine I have. The PO told me that it is 67' 390 out of a mustang. Last night I put it at TDC and checked the difference between cylinder 1 and 4 with a wood dowel. It is at 3.75" which would make it a 390. The strange thing is that the cast number for the heads are from a 352, I think. They have a EDC-E cast mark on them. Research continues.
